FREE - July 12 - 6pm - 8pm - MRU at Morningside Park - hosted by the City of Brownsville Mobile Recreation Unit, City of Brownsville Parks & Recreation Department, and the City of Brownsville, TX - Municipal Government - About MRU: Mobile Recreation Unit. Families, friends, neighbors, are all invited and there is ZERO cost to come out and play! The MRU tour is a fun movable unit. A traveling party for the entire community. It includes inflatable water slide, portable basketball hoops, tricycles, hula hoops, arts and crafts supplies, and assortment of other outdoor recreational equipment. Our organization keeps growing with new and exciting projects ahead. Come and learn what we are currently working on and see what you would be interested in helping out.

July 13 - 8:30am - 10am - Port of Brownsville Adventure Paddle - hosted by South Texas Paddlers - Join us for a tour of the scenic area surrounding the Brownsville Shipping Channel. Loved by kayak fishermen, this waterway teems with wildlife. From feeding shorebirds to the occasional pod of dolphins, you're sure to see evidence of the plentiful life that inhabits this busy coastal waterway. Listen to a bit of history of the Port of Brownsville and why it’s so important. Bring the family and friends to enjoy the awesomeness of these beautifully restored wetlands. Tour runs for an hour and a half. Seats are limited so please make sure to call at 956-371-6242,email at southtexaspaddlers@gmail.com, or message us on Facebook. Tandem kayaks- $50 ($25 each person.) Single kayaks- $30. Bring Your Own Kayak- $20. You’ll want to bring water, sunscreen and clothing you don’t mind getting wet. Life is better on the water!

FREE - July 13 - 9am - 1pm - FIRST CATCH CENTER - Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge - hosted by Fishing's Future - EVERYONE MUST BE REGISTERED TO ATTEND - Recommended for Families and children 6 years and older. MUST BRING THIS TICKET TO BE ALLOWED ON PROPERTY. EVERYONE MUST BE REGISTERED and GOOD CONTACT INFORMATION GIVEN. SPACE IS LIMITED. THIS IS A FREE EVENT - But you do need to register. This is a 4 hour Clinic teaching BASIC Fishing. PLEASE BRING: water, bug spray, sun screen, and anything else to might need in the outdoors. Might also want to bring a chair. Fishing gear and bait will be provided during fishing time. If you have your own gear, please bring. This will be catch and release. A better MAP and DIRECTIONS will be sent via EMAIL.

FREE - July 13 - 9am - 1pm - Post 4th Of July Beach Clean UP - hosted by Keep Brownsville Beautiful - Post 4th of July Beach Clean Up at Boca Chica Beach. Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Beach clean up along the shoreline and the dunes of Boca Chica Beach. This is a great opportunity to volunteer and help a great cause. FREE - July 13 - 10am - 12pm - Tails That Teach - Education Session For Kids - hosted by Brownsville Animal Defense - Brownsville Animal Defense has launched education session for kids ages 5 to 10. Kids will read the book "Love Me Gently," play Puppy Bingo, learn how to approach a dog for the first time and make a blanket for dogs at Brownsville's Animal Shelter. All materials will be provided. Dogs will be present at the event. Kids will be able to take home a book and a Pawfect Pal certificate. Session limited to 15 kids. Please call 956-640-5995 to reserve your spot.

FREE - July 13 - 12pm - 5pm - RGV Veterans Photo Project Photo Shoot - hosted by RGV Veterans Photo Project - This is a free photography shoot for Veterans. Every Veteran photographed will receive a free 8x10 photo. To participate, we ask that you contact us to sign up and reserve your spot. We ask that you please bring an 8x10 "boot camp" photo of your "younger" self. We have a demand that may exceed our scheduled times, I will try my best to accommodate all those want to be a part of this photo project. FREE - July 14 - 8am - 9am - Yoga at the Shop - hosted by 7th & Park - Join us every Sunday morning at 8am on the patio for a free yoga class. Stay for crepes, mimosas, and coffee! If necessary, we will hold the class indoors. P.S. No mat? No problem. All yoga gear is 10% off on Sundays, when available.

July 14 - 8:30am - 9:30am - Bilingual Nature Walk - hosted by Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, Viva the Ocelot, Friends of Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, and Latino Conservation Week - REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Spots limited. Help us celebrate Latino Conservation Week! Ranger Christopher Quezada in a guided nature walk in Spanish around the Visitor Center. Learn about the plants, wildlife and history of the Refuge! Program lasts for approximately an hour, and will start at the Visitor Center. In the case of inclement weather, the program will be moved to another location (you will be notified via email). There is no additional fee for the program, but you will need to pay the $3.00 per vehicle admission fee. Please bring enough water and necessary sun protection.
